Messa da Requiem by Giuseppe Verdi was included into the permanent repertoire of the theatre in December 2011. Being a religious piece of music its performance is dedicated to special occasions. This time Ash Friday for the Orthodox, Greek Catholic and other Christian nominations is on May 3. This is the special occasion Messa da Requiem is dedicated to.

According to the theatre tradition prominent soloists from both The Odessa Opera and other theatre companies are invited to take part in performances of Messa da Requiem.
