The Odessa Ballet is celebrating the jubilee of Harry Sevoyan, a soloist dancer of the theatre, Honoured Artist of Ukraine

Today is birthday of Harry Sevoyan who is a soloist of the Odessa National Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre, The Odessa Ballet Manager, Honoured Artist of Ukraine.

The staff and management of the theatre are happy to greet Mr. Sevoyan on the day of his jubilee and wish good health, long professional life on stage, further achievements in the art of dance, everlasting applause and the love from public and inspiring respect from the colleagues! 

We would like to remind you that the one-act ballet night is to take place on the stage of the Odessa Opera on May 24 and this night is dedicated to Harry Sevoyan’s jubilee. Mr. Sevoyan to perform the part of Jose in in the ballet Carmen Suite by George Bizet and Rodion Shchedrin. Elena Baranovsakya, People’s Artist of Ukraine, is dancing the lead part (Carmen). Other performers are Sergey Dotsenko (Toreador), Yuri Medvedev (Corregidor), Maria Ryazantseva (Fate), Victoria Kostyuchenko and Elena Lavrinenko (Cigarette factory girls). 

Moreover, Ludmila Grekova is debuting in Waltz 11 in the choreographic suite Les Sylphides with the music by Frédéric Chopin. Olga Vorobyova and Stanislav Skrynnik are performing Waltz 7; Oksana Demchenko is dancing Prelude.

The Jubilee Artist’s Background. Harry Sevoyan finished The Baku School of Choreography (under Leila Vekilova, People’s Artist of the USSR) in 1986. He also graduated from the Choreographic Faculty of the International Slavic University in 2011 specializing as “choreographer, ballet master, and trainer in special subjects”.

  

Mr. Sevoyan worked in Baku, Erevan, Kharkov and Cheboksary theatres. He moved to Odessa in 1999.

 

 

His repertoire includes the parts of Albert (Giselle by Adolphe Adam), Prince Siegfried and Von Rothbart, Prince Desire, the Nutcracker Prince (Swan Lake, The Sleeping Beauty, The Nutcracker by Pyotr Tchaikovsky), Solor, Basilio и Espada, Young Man (La Bayadère, Don Quixote and Paquita by Ludwig Minkus ), Jose (Carmen Suite by George Bizet and Rodion Shchedrin), Mephistopheles (Walpurgis Night by Charles Gounod), The Young Man (choreographic suite Les Sylphides with the music by Frédéric Chopin), Spartak (the same name ballet by Aram Khachaturian), Lucien (Paquita by Ludwig Minkus), Balzaminov (Balzaminov’s Marriage), Strauss (The Blue Danube) and others.

 

 

The artist has toured Germany, France, Canada, Greece, Lebanon, Belgium, Holland, Switzerland, Spain and other countries.

 

Mr. Sevoyan has been the Odessa Ballet manger since 2011.
