Ellina Pokhodnykh, soloist of the Odessa Ballet, is debuting as Giselle in the same named ballet

Ellina Pokhodnykh, soloist of the Odessa Ballet, is debuting as Giselle in the same named ballet by Adolph Adam this Friday, July 19. The performance starts at 6:30 pm.

Sergiy Dotsenko, Honoured Artist of Ukraine, is dancing Duke Albrecht of Siles and Dmytro Sharay is starring as Hilarion, a gameskeeper.

Conductor – Alexander Sotnikov, Honoured Artist of Russia.

Ellina POKHODNYKH is the third prize winner in the International Youth Competition in Classical Choreography Galytska Terpsichore (Terpsichore from Galicia) (Lviv, Ukraine, 2006); the Third Prize winner in the Yuri Grigorovich International Competition Young Ballet of the World (Sochi, Russia, 2006); the Second prize winner in the festival of choreographic art Dance Without Borders 2007 (Kyiv, Ukraine); a Diploma holder in the International Ballet Competition Varna 2008 (Bulgaria); the First prize winner in the International Festival/Competition of the Youth and Children’s Choreographic Art Little Odessa Gems 2006 (Ukraine); a holder of the Annual Odessa Region Governor’s Scholarship in the nomination Choreographic Art in 2007.

Ellina Pokhodnykh finished the Dankevych Odessa State School for Arts and Culture specializing in “classical choreography” in 2009, then the same year she was enrolled in the course of “Stage direction in classical ballet art” at the Karpenko-Karyi Kyiv National University for Theatre, Cinema and Television (Kyiv, Ukraine).

Ms. Pokhodnkh has been working for the Odessa Ballet company since 2009.

The ballerina’s repertoire includes Princess Aurora and Lilac Fairy in The Sleeping Beauty, the part of Maids of Honor, Big Swans and Brides in Swan Lake and the Flowers in The Nutcracker by Pyotr Tchaikovsky; Pas de deux in the ballet gala Nureyev’s forever…; variations in the ballet Paquita, part of Gamzatti, the Shades trio and Pas d'actions in the ballet La Bayadère by Ludwig Minkus; the parts of the Bird and the Snake in the ballet fantasy Aibolit ХХІ with the music by Nino Rota and others.

The artist has toured the USA, Canada, Italy, and Portugal. Ms. Pokhodnkh was also a participant of the concert program of the International Festival sponsored by the Spivakov’s Foundation Moscow Meets Friends in 2007.
