Natalia Bevzenko-Zinkina, the Principal Scenic Designer of the Odessa Opera, passed away

The Odessa National Academic Opera and Ballet Theater regrets to inform that Natalia Bevzenko-Zinkina, the Principal Scenic Designer of the Odessa Opera, Honored Painter of Ukraine, passed away on the 4th of January in the small hours of the morning being 79 years old.

Ms. Bevzenko-Zinkina finished Art and Pedagogy Department of the Grekov Odessa Art School. She worked for the Odessa Opera since 1970 where she designed scenography and costumes for more than 60 operas and ballets. The artist designed sets for state and jubilee festivities dedicated to the Day of Independence of Ukraine, 200th anniversary of Odessa, jubilee Taras Shevchenko dates, 400th birthday anniversary of Bogdan Khmelnitsky, 100th anniversary of Leonid Utesov, David Oistrach's jubilees, 125th birthday anniversary of Enrico Caruso and numerous international music festivals in Hungary, Bulgaria, China, Italy, Lebanon, Cyprus.

Natalya Bevzenko-Zinkina served to theatrical art up to the last moment generously giving her talent to the public, colleagues and friends. Her extraordinary heart warmth, loyalty to theater and soul purity will stay in our hearts for a long time.

The staff and management of the Odessa National Academic Opera and Ballet Theater express heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Ms Bevzenko-Zinkina.

The funeral service will start in the Transfiguration (Spaso-Preobrazhensky) Cathedral at 1 pm on the 6th of January. She will be buried at the Second Christian Cemetery.
