Valery REGRUT, a cоnductor, and Olexander STRYUK, a soloist, to debut in Lucia da Lammermoor

Valery REGRUT conducts Lucia da Lammermoor by Gaetano DONIZETTI this Thursday, March 6th, for the first time. He studied choral conducting at Tchernovtsi Music College (known at present as the Sidor Vorobkevich Tchernovtsi State Arts and Culture College) and Nezhdanova Odessa State (at present known as National) Academy of Music specializing in Chorus Conducting (under Prof. Alice SEREBRI), Opera and Symphony Conducting (under Associate Prof. David SIPITINER, Honoured Artist of Ukraine) and Solo Singing (under Prof. Mykola OGRENICH, People’s Artist of Ukraine). Later on he had an artistic post graduate course under Prof. Vasily NAVROTSKY, People’s Artist of Ukraine. Mr. REGRUT has been training choral and operatic and symphony conductors at the Nezhdanova Academy of Music and has been conducting for operatic studio and students’ choir of the Academy since 1997. He joined the Odessa Opera as a soloist (an operatic tenor) in 2000 and obtained the Third Prize at the Alchevsky International Vocal Competition. He has been a conductor with the Odessa Opera since 2011. 

Olexander STRYUK, the Odessa Opera soloist, debuts as Lord Enrico Ashton on Thursday’s performance. Olexander STRYUK (baritone) is the First Prize winner in the New Names National Competition of Ukraine (1999), the 21st Century Art International Competition in Vorsel (2006), the Three Centuries of the Classical Art Song International Festival for Piano and Voice Duets in St. Petersburg (2006). He obtained the Second Prize at Elena Obraztsova Young Opera Singers Competition in 2007. Eugenia MIROSHNICHENKO, the People’s Artist of the USSR and Ukraine, singled out Mr. STRYUK as a promising singer and gave him an individual prize from her personal foundation at Lysenko Competition in Kyiv.

Lucia da Lammermoor to be performed on March 6 features Alyona KISTENYOVA in the title role. Other performers are Vladislav GORAI, Honoured Artist of Ukraine (Edgardo di Ravenswood), Dmytro PAVLYUK (Raimondo Bidebent), Dmytro MIKHEEV (Lord Ashton), and Andrew PERFILOV (Normanno). Natalia KADANTSEVA, an operatic soloist, sings the part of Alisa, Lucia’s friend.

The performance starts at 6:30 pm.
