The opera Catherina to be dedicated to the 200th Taras SHEVCHENKO’s anniversary

The opera Catherina that is on stage on the 3rd of April will be dedicated to the 200th Taras SHEVCHENKO’s birthday anniversary.

Vera REVENKO, Honoured Artist of Ukraine, performs the lead part of Catherina. People’s Artist of Ukraine Anatoly BOYKO sings the part of Catherina’s father and Nadiya SHAKUN, Honoured Artist of Ukraine, appears as Catherina’s mother. Pavlo YERMOLENKO sings the part of the young officer Ivan, Mykola SUBBOTA performs the part of Andrew while Natalia KADANTSEVA and Irina OLEKSIV sing the parts of Catherina’s friends Oksana and Odarka. Other performers are members of the Odessa Opera orchestra, the Odessa Opera Chorus and extras.

Igor TCHERNETSKY conducts the opera.

The performance starts at 6:30 pm.

We would like to remind you that last summer The National Radio of Ukraine had the opera Catherina recorded with participation of the Odessa Opera orchestra and soloists for one of the most prestigious projects of the European Broadcasting Union, in particular, “European Opera Season”. A story is by the Odessa State TV and Radio Broadcasting Company (in Ukrainian).
