February 10, 1810 is the starting point of theatrical seasons in Odessa Opera and Ballet Theatre

The present 205th theatrical season of Odessa Opera Theatre has been running from the date of February 10,1810. That day a grand opening of the City Theatre was held on and the current Opera and Ballet Theatre is its successor. The building of the City Theatre was snow-white, it resembled an ancient temple facing to the port. The auditorium had 800 seats (the city population was 12,5 thousand people).The First City Theatre was designed by the Italian Francesco Frapolli, and then a Frenchman Thomas de Thomon, who  erected a lot of buildings in St. Petersburg, made some changes in the plan.
