Natalia Kadantseva and Inga Martynova will first play the parts in the opera “Cossack beyond the Danube” on February, 19

 Two opera soloists, laureates of the international contests Natalia Kadantseva (Odarka) and Inga Martynova (Oksana) will play the parts in the opera “Cossack beyond the Danube” on February 19, 2015.

Other parts are played by Dmitriy Pavlyuk (Karas), Nikolay Subbota(Andriy), Honoured Artist of Ukraine Pavel Ermolenko (Sultan), Sergey Krasnykh (a Turkish lord), Dmitriy Sebov (Imam) and others.

The plot of the opera is based on the events from the history of Ukraine. After the Zaporizhian Sich destruction (1775) many Cossacks were forced to flee to Turkey. Exactly this page of the history of our country is revealed in one of the most popular works by Semen Gulak-Artyomovskiy (composer, author of the libretto and performer of the main part Ivan Karas).

“Cossack beyond the Danube” is the first Ukrainian opera where the Ukrainian dance and song have been established on the stage. It combines the subtle humor, the national colour and unique beauty of Ukrainian melody.

Performance starts at 18.30
