The performance starts at 19:00

Miroslav Skorik is a glorified personality in Ukraine. He is an author of operas, ballets, popular songs such as the first Ukrainian twist "Не топчіть конвалій" and blues-tango «Намалюй мені ніч». He participated in creation of an iconic Ukrainian film "Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors" by Sergey Parajanov.

Skorik is a single composer in Ukraine who writes peculiar cello concerts in signs. He was awarded the State Prize of Ukraine named after T.Shevchenko in 1987 for the Concert #1.

Thirty years later the world premiere of the Concert#2 for cello with orchestra is held in Odessa on June, 21. It is a unique event for the native academic music as the Ukrainian music, particularly cello performing art, is represented by such global works.

The world premiere will be held as a part of National Project “Three “S” – Skorik-Silvestrov-Stankovich”; besides South Palmira it has embraced the number of cities: Kiev, Lvov, Kharkov, Ivano-Frankovsk, Vinnitsa and Chernovtsy from April to June 2016. On June, 21 in Odessa Opera House the works by Miroslav Skorik will sound along with the world-famous works by the composers of the past epochs, which are very close to the Skorik’s manner in style. This is music by outstanding French composers- impressionists Claude Debussy, Maurice Ravel and American composer George Gershwin, who effectively combined the highest classical music and jazz in his work. The presentation of the indissoluble connection of Ukrainian and the world culture and the majesty of our contemporary Ukrainian composers will reveal the result of these combinations in one concert.
