The opera "La Boheme" by Giacomo Puccini will be performed on the 80th anniversary of birthday of Nikolay Ogrenich.

On December 23 at 18.30 the opera "La Boheme" by Giacomo Puccini will be performed. It is dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the birthday of Nikolay Ogrenich, an outstanding opera singer and tutor.

Nikolay Ogrenich was born on December 8, 1937 in the village Ivanovka (Odessa region), where he finished school.

In 1960 he entered the Odessa Musical College, sang in the choir of Musical Comedy Theatre, and after graduating from the college he became a soloist of the theatre. In 1966, still studying in the third year of Odessa Conservatory, he became a soloist of Odessa Opera House.

Having mastered the Italian language perfectly and having passed the competitive admissions, Ogrenich spent two years at La Scala Theatre in Milan. In 1970 he was awarded the first prize and a great gold medal at the Moscow International Competition named after P.Tchaikovsky. A talented singer was widely known both in Ukraine and abroad. His mastery admired the audience of 40 countries, his repertoire included 400 tenor parts, romances, songs.

In 1970 Nikolay Ogrenich started his thirty-year long teaching career at the Odessa Conservatory: an assistant, a senior lecturer, an assistant professor and professor of the solo singing department - that was his way. After leaving the stage, he headed the conservatory in 1984.

Many laureates of the most prestigious competitions were brought up under his direction. To support young talents was his main and constant concern.

Nikolay Ogrenich stands out in the memory of his countrymen as a true devotee of his city, one of the brightest personalities of modern Ukraine.

On December 23 the performer of the part of Rudolph, Honoured Artist of Ukraine Vladislav Goray and conductor Valeriy Regrut were the students of Nikolay Ogrenich.
