The two geniuses will be honoured on October 23 on the small BEL-ETAGE stage

The concert dedicated to the Jubilees of Sergei Rachmaninoff and Feodor Chaliapin will take place in the Odessa Opera on Oct 23. The event will take place on the small BEL-ETAGE stage at 3:30 pm.

The programme has two parts. The first part includes the vocal cycle Songs and Dances of Death (music by Modest Mussorgsky, lyrics by Arseni Golenishchev-Kutuzov). The second part has the love songs by Sergei Rachmaninoff with Dmitry Merezhkovsky’s, Feodor Tyutchev’s, Mikhail Lermontov’s, Alexei Apukhtin’s, Afanasy Fet’s and other poets’ lyrics.

 

Vasyl Navrotsky, People’s Artist of Ukraine (bass), and Lyudmila Ivanova, Honoured Artist of Ukraine (piano) will take part in the concert.

Feodor Chaliapin was an outstanding singer of opera and chamber music. His 140th anniversary was celebrated on February 13, 2013. Sergei Rachmaninoff’s 140th anniversary was celebrated on April 1, 2013. He was an outstanding pianist, composer and symphony conductor.
