Igor Tchernetsky to conduct Aida on December 5

The nearest Aida performance by Giuseppe Verdi is to be on stage on of the Odessa Opera at 6:30 pm on December 5. Igor Tchernetsky is going to conduct the performance for the first time.

Principal Conductor of the Odessa Opera Alexandru Samoile, People's Artist of the Republic of Moldova, has been conducting the opera since the première performance of this production (on June 1, 2012 at Teatralnaya Square in Odessa and on October 5 and 6, 2012 on the stage of the theatre) up to present.

The leads on December 5 are Larisa Zuenko, Honored Artist of Ukraine (Aida), Olena Starodubtseva, Honored Artist of Ukraine (Amneris), and Alexei Repchinsky (Radames). Other parts are to be performed by Dmitry Sebov (King of Egypt), Segey Uzun (Ramfis), Alexander Stryuk (Amonasro) and Valery Regrut (The Messenger). Ekaterina Tsymbalyuk is playing the part of Voice of the High Priestess.

Biographical Background

Igor Tchernetsky obtained a diploma from the Salomeya Krushelnitskaya Ternopil College of Music and then graduated from the Nezhdanova Odessa National Academy of Music (former the Nezhdanova Odessa Conservatory). The conductor had additional training in the Higher School of Music in Freiburg (Germany) between 1993 and 1994. Before joining the Odessa Opera Mr. Tchernetsky was Principal Conductor at the Vasylko Theatre of Music and Drama and a conductor at the Vodyanoy Odessa Academic Theatre of Musical Comedy. At present Mr. Tchernetsky is an Associate Professor at the Opera Training Chair of the Nezhdanova Odessa National Academy of Music.
