Valery Regrut conducts Verdi’s Rigoletto tomorrow on Jan 16 for the first time

Rigoletto performance that will take place on the stage of the theater tomorrow on January 16, 2014 will be led by Valery Regrut (on the photo) for the first time. 

Mr. Regrut studied choral conducting at Tchernovtsi Music College (known at present as the Sidor Vorobkevich Tchernovtsi State Arts and Culture College) and Nezhdanova Odessa State (at present known as National) Academy of Music specializing in choral conducting, opera and symphony conducting, solo singing (operatic tenor) also. He joined the Odessa Opera as a soloist (an operatic tenor) in 2000 and became the conductor in 2011.

He obtained the Third Prize at Alchevsky International Vocal Competition.

Mr. Regrut has been training choral and operatic and symphony conductors at the Nezhdanova Academy of Music and has been conducting for operatic studio and students’ choir of the Academy since 1997.

Tomorrow’s performance features one more debut as Taisiya Shafranskaya sings La Contessa di Ceprano.

She has been invited to join the Odessa Opera company in this theatrical season. The singer is a post-graduate student at the Nezhdanova Academy of Music, the First Prize holder at the International festival Competition “Fill In Your Hearts with Music” (Odessa, 2008) and the First Prize holder at the International Vocal Competition Star Music Champion (Romania, 2011).

Pavel Ermolenko (Rigoletto), Oleg Zlakoman (Duke of Mantua) and Alina Vorokh (Gilda) lead in tomorrow’s Rigoletto. Other performers are Sergey Uzun (Sparafucile), Ekaterina Tsymbalyuk (Maddalena),Yuri Dudar (Marullo), Andrey Perfilov (Borsa), Dmitry Sebov (il Conte di Ceprano and an Officer), Irina Oleksiv (Paggio).

Lyudmila Shirina, People’s artist of Ukraine, sings Giovanna, and Anatoly Boyko, People’s Artist of Ukraine, appears as Count Monterone.

The performance starts at 6:30 pm.
