The Emerald City on February 1 is led by Valery Regrut for the first time

For the first time Valery REGRUT leads the children’s performance The Emerald City that is on stage of the Odessa Opera on February 1.

The performance features two more debuts. Alina VOROKH, a prizewinner of many international competitions, debuts as The Queen of Winged Monkeys and Sergey UZUN is about to sing the part of Goodwin (aka Wizard of Oz).

Other performers are the members of the children’s choir The Gems of Odessa Anastasia MIKHOVA (Ellie, aka Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz) and Sophia YESHCHENKO (Toto), the theater soloists Marina GODULYAN (The Wicked Witch of the West/The Wicked Witch of the East), Vasily DOBROVOLSKY (Tin Man), Andrew PERFILOV (Scarecrow ), Eduard POGOSOV (Cowardly Lion), the children’s choir The Gems of Odessa and the Odessa Opera orchestra.

The performance starts at 12:00 pm

The musical fairy-tale for the whole family The Emerald City adapted from Alexander Volkov’s book The Wizard of the Emerald City was premiered in the Odessa Opera in June 2013. The producing staff used music by G. Bizet, G. Verdi, G. Donizetti, P. Mascagni, G. Meyerbeer, W. A. Mozart, G. Paisiello, N. Rimsky-Korsakov, G. Rossini and E. Humperdinck. The authors have created a kind of unique music encyclopedia for children as little theater goers get familiar with masterpieces of operatic art in a easy and accessible manner.
