Alexander STRYUK debuts in a lead role in the Barber of Seville

Alexander STRYUK, a soloist of the Odessa National Academic Opera and Ballet Theater, debuts as Figaro in the Barber of Seville by G. ROSSINI. The performance is on the stage of the Odessa Opera on Sunday, February 16.

Alexander STRYUK (baritone) is the First Prize winner in the New Names National Competition of Ukraine (1999), the 21st Century Art International Competition in Vorsel (2006), the Three Centuries Of The Classical Art Song International Festival For Piano And Voice Duets in St. Petersburg (2006).

He obtained the Second Prize at Elena Obraztsova Young Opera Singers Competition in 2007. The People’s Artist of the USSR and Ukraine Eugenia MIROSHNICHENKO singled out Mr. STRYUK as a promising singer and gave him an individual prize from her personal foundation at Lysenko Competition in Kyiv.

Mr. STRYUK graduated from the Odessa Conservatoire (The Nezhdanova Odessa National Academy of Music at present) in 2002 and a post graduate course in 2006. The singer debuted on the stage of the Odessa Opera as Roberto in the opera Iolantha by P. TCHAIKOVSKY. 

Vladyslav GORAY, Honored Artist of Ukraine, and Nadiya SYCHUK sing Count Almaviva and Rosina in the performance of February 16. Other performers are Vadym TCHERNIGOVSKY (Bartolo), Alexander PATRICK (Fiorello) and Yuri DUDAR (Officer).

Vasyl NAVROTSKY, People’s Artist of Ukraine, and Sergiy UZUN sing the part of Basilio. Lyudmila SHIRINA, People’s Artist of Ukraine, performs the part of Bertha.

The opera is led by Aleksandru SAMOILĂ, Principal Conductor of the Odessa Opera and People’s Artist of the Republic of Moldova.

The performance starts at 6:30 pm.
