Vitaly KOVALCHUK to conduct the 30th May Don Quixote

On May 30 Vitaly KOVALCHUK conducts the ballet Don Quixote at the Odessa Opera for the first time. The conductor is the prizewinner of the 11th International Competition of Conductors in Budapest. Mr. KOVALCHUK studied at the Kiev National Academy of Music, then at the Conductors’ Department of the Leipzig University, the Higher School of Music in Weimer. The conductor also took a postgraduate course at the Academy of Arts in Berlin. He led Leipzig Youth Orchestra and was Principal conductor and Artistic Director of the Schott Orchestra in Jena. The conductor has been working at the Odessa Opera since 2011.

Natalia IVASENKO debuts in the same show as one of Kitri’s Friends. The ballerina is the prizewinner of the International competition of Classical Dance in Kharkiv “Crystal Shoe”, a diploma recipient of the International Ballet Competition in New York, the Valentina Kozlova International Ballet Competition in Boston, the Yuri Grigorovich International Competition “The World’s Young Ballet” in Sochi and the International Ballet Competition in Orlando.

The public will enjoy the debut of Olga VOROVYOVA as the Queen of Dryads and Elena PONOMARYOVA as Gypsy.

Alina KHILKO (Kitri) and Dmytro SHARAY (Basil) lead the performance.

The show starts at 6:30 pm.
