Galina POLIVANOVA’s students are giving a concert – tribute to her jubilee

This Friday, June the 6th, sees the concert on the small Bel-Etage stage to honour the jubilee of the singer and vocal coach, People’s Artist of Ukraine Galina POLIVANOVA.

The soloists are Galina Polivanova’s graduate and postgraduate students of the Nezhdanova Odessa National Academy of Music, in particular Darina GLOTOVA, Natalia KUTSEVICH, Elena NEVELSKAYA, Liliya SKLIFASOVSKAYA, Yulia TIMAKOVA, Harry HUKASYAN, Lu NANI, Todor PANOVSKY, Pavel SMIRNOV, Serei FEDORENKO and Tszhao TSZIUAN.

The programme contains compositions by Mykola Rimsky-Korsakov, Sergei Rachmaninoff, Pyotr Tchaikovsky, Giuseppe Verdi, Jules Massenet, Gaetano Donizetti, Michael Glinka, Ruggeri Leoncavallo, Richard Strauss, Michael Tariverdiyev, Leonard Bernstein, George Sviridov, Yuliy Meitus, George Gershwin and other composers.
The concertmasters are Yuliya RUSNAK, Victoria SAVCHENKO, Olga FILATOVA, Ellina EKONOMOVA and Igor PARADA.

We would like to remind you that the Odessa Opera’s Madam Butterfly of the 25th of April, 2014 was dedicated to the People’s Artist of Ukraine Galina Polivanova’s Jubilee. “Cio-Cio San” part was performed by another Galina Polivanova’s student, a prizewinner of international competitions Yulia TERESHCHUK. It was her debut appearance.

The lead role in the opera Madam Butterfly was Galina Polivanova’s debut in the theatrical career of the singer in 1953. There are more than 40 leading parts in Ms. Рolivanova’s repertoire. The most prominent ones are “Lady Macbeth” in the opera Macbeth, “Desdemona” in Othello, “Aida” in the same name opera, “Violetta” in La Traviata by G. Verdi; “Maria” in Mazepa, “Liza” in Pique Dame, “Tatiana” in Eugene Onegin by P. Tchaikovsky and many others. The singer has performed on the opera stages of Kiev, Moscow, Minsk, Voronezh, Riga, Chisinau, Kazan, and St. Petersburg. She has toured Albania, Afghanistan, India, Bulgaria, Poland, Germany, Spain, Norway, Switzerland, France, and Finland.

In 1960 Galina Polivanova was granted the title of the People’s Artist of Ukrainian SSR. She has been heading the Solo Singing Chair at the Nezhdanova Odessa State Conservatory (National Academy of Music at present).
