New name of chief conductor is known

Odessa National Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre announces that the competition for the vacant post of chief conductor was finished on June 25, 2019. The winner is Vyacheslav Chernukho-Volich.

Vyacheslav Chernukho-Volich is a graduate of Belarusian State Music Academy and masters course of Academy. He is a laureate of the I National Theatre Award of the Republic of Belarus (for the production of the opera “Nabucco” by Verdi), he was awarded with Francisk Skorina’s medal, a special award of the President of the Republic of Belarus for significant personal contribution to the revival of ancient Belarusian music. From 2001 to 2006 he was the principal guest conductor of Mersin Opera and Ballet Theatre (Turkey), from 1993 he was a conductor of National Academic Bolshoi Opera and Ballet Theatre of the Republic of Belarus. In 2003/2004 he was the chief conductor of this theatre.

He is a conductor of the operas “Les pêcheurs de perles” by G. Bizet, “Nabucco”, “La Traviata”, “Aida” by G. Verdi, “La Boheme”, “Turandot” by G. Puccini, “Pagliacci” by R. Leoncavallo, “Cavalleria rusticana” by P. Mascagni, “Boris Godunov” by M. Mussorgskiy, “The Tsar's Bride” by N. Rimskiy-Korsakov, the ballets “Le baiser de la fee”, “The Firebird”, “The Sacred Spring” by I. Stravinskiy, “Serenade” by P. Tchaikovsky, etc. He created a world premiere of the opera "Jubilee" by S. Cortez (Soloturn, Switzerland). Vyacheslav Chernukho-Volich's repertoire consists of more than 30 operas and ballets by Western European, Russian and Belarusian composers.
