Tomorrow the opera “Carmen” will first be conducted by Vyacheslav Chernukho-Volich

Tomorrow, on August 3, the audience will first enjoy Vyacheslav Chernukho-Volich as a new chief conductor of Odessa Opera House. He won the competition for thisposition on June 25. So, the opera “Carmen” by Georges Bizet will be heldunder the baton of the maestro.

Today, the conductor has been officially introduced to the orchestra and theatre artists. Vyacheslav Chernuho-Volichhas also met with the Odessa journalists and he has told them about three reasons that inspired him to take part in the competition for the position of chief conductor of the theatre. At first, it is the love for Odessa. Secondly, the high level of skills of the artists, the orchestra and the choir of the theatre, and thirdly, the creative contacts that started when he conducted the opera “Turandot” in February 2018.

By the way, Vyacheslav Chernuho-Volich is a student of the conductor Gennady Provatorov, who was the musical director of Odessa Opera and Ballet Theatre in 1965 - 1968.

On August 3the main part in the opera “Carmen” will be performed by mezzo-soprano Taisiya Shafranska. The theatre-goers will also hear Honoured Artists of Ukraine Irina Berlizova and Dmitriy Pavlyuk, laureates of international competitions Yulia Tereshchuk, Zoreslava Dolga, Eduard Martynyuk, Vasyl Dobrovolskiy, Andriy Perfilov, Yuriy Dudar and Oleksiy Gruzin.
